Hi everyone,
I see this board is pretty empty so i guess it's because the show season hasn't started yet..
any whom a little about my self . My name is Janine, I'm 28, and have been riding horses since I was 9years old.. I started doing eventing when I was 11 and did good. I had a bad accident when I was 16 doing a XC preliminary course.. where my horse did a rotational fall over a log jump into a bank. I stopped riding after that for many many years. for the fear of horses and getting hurt.. I had broken several ribs, dislocated my back in several places and broke my hip.. my horse on the other hand was fine.. which was good. I kept her until I had to put her down because of colic.
I moved to the states in 01..after I got married to my very supportive husband. He encouraged me to go back out there and give it another go. Even bought me a 15.2 hand high appendix that was so old she couldn't buck even if she tried.
along with her and my new best friend Kym I learned to jump again, even if it was only like 18" but I had to restart somewhere and that was too high for me as it was.. half the time I was crying and shaking in fear. My old horse did me good and thought me to be happy again to be on horse back. I soon adopted her out to a retirement home where she lived to be 25 before she was put down cause of her age causing her pain.
I had received my new horse Sassy from these people who took my older mare Cash off my hands. Sassy is a Spanish Mustang, Braver then shit..Scopy and a huge handful all in a small package of 14.3 hands.
Sassy loves to jump and with her I learned to "Trust my horse" again. since she doesn't stop you point she goes.. I got Sassy totally unbroke and I'm proud to have had the chance to break her in my self. She didn't even know how to lead and was a pain to halter break. but over the years we have built a ever lasting bond and with her confidence over the fences I soon found my second pair of wings.
I'm currently jumping 3'2" which might not be huge for some of you but for me that is plenty big enough considering my past. I don't think I'll ever jump 4-5' again since my guts aren't there.. but the 3' range is fun and I'm proud of my self for getting there again.
I'm hoping to meet many new friends here, and learn lots of new things about eventing and such, since I'm sure it's changed a bit over the last 10 or so years. I will be competing but only in the BN or N events so I can stick at 2' classes until I gain more confidence over the higher jumps XC. Sassy is pretty green when it comes to XC and I want to make sure she gains experience and confidence in those before I advance any further.
I'm currently in Trinidad, which is all western so finding any english stables with XC fences is pretty much impossible, I do go to penrose on occasion during the spring and summer to train out there with my friend. since that' the closest to me being only 2hrs away..
unless there is a barn in Pueblo with a XC course..
thanks for reading
